Pontedera

Pontedera is a town in the province of Pisa, developed within the Valdarno below the confluence of the river Era. The territory is crossed by Scolmatore channel to the west, while the Roglio, tributary dell'Era, marks the border south-east. In the hamlet of Pietroconti find a small lake which is called Lake Braccini. Pontedera is torva to border on the west with the Plains of Pisa, Lucca Plains of north-west, Cerbaie north-east and south Valdera. The Cathedral of Pontedera was built in neoclassical style, between 1840 and 1864, drawing on dell'ingegnere Florentine Joseph Michelacci. Following underwent some additions like the arcade, bell and the fountain in the middle of the square.
